This is an Indonesian Kris, Kris play a large role in hindu mythology and are often cosidered living entities instead of tools, some were considered so powerful that they could leap out their sheath and kill by themselves if they were disrespected. They are considered status symbols and huge amounts of effort, material, time and superstition go into making and choosing the right owner for the kris, such as hand length and the amount of bends in the blade (uneven numbers, particulary 9 and 21, are considered lucky).
